Cypraea Caputserpentis " 1 in a million"

Cypraea ( Monetaria ) Caputserpentis
Linnaeus 1758
Size : 28.5 mm
Depth : 5-10 m
Locality : East Java, Indian Ocean
From local fisherman August 2006.

One of the rarest !!! White porcelain smooth dorsum. Only 1 specimen .

C. Caputserpentis is a common cowries found anywhere from South Sumatra to Flores. Most of them caught by dredging at 10 -20 m depth. Some could found at low tide on coral beaches. Beautiful cowry, always amazed with variation of color and pattern.
